The task of physically relocating can be quite a challenge on its own. When moving your business data to support this transition, the assurance that every aspect is transferred accurately and aligned with the real-life movement becomes crucial.
In a recent case, our client was undergoing the relocation of warehouses and offices to a new site. They sought assistance in ensuring that the digital information encompassing supporting master and transactional data was seamlessly transferred. A significant aspect of the challenge involved consolidating data from multiple legacy sources into a unified target.
This case study sheds light on how Kagool successfully managed the Data Migration process using the Pulse tool. Client Challenge: 
Faced with the challenge of managing information scattered across multiple company codes, plants, storage locations, and various entities within their organisational structure in the SAP ecosystem, our client sought a reliable solution to sculpt the target structure into a single source of truth. A solution was required to address the fact that conflicting data was coming from their various source entities so that they could define which value to migrate from the source to the new organisational structure of the target. Furthermore, the migration presented an opportune moment to identify and rectify errors or inconsistencies in the existing data. Therefore, a method for cleansing the data before migration became essential to the solution.
To kickstart the project, our consultants meticulously outlined the scope of work. We developed a comprehensive documentation framework, covering everything from the migration strategy to object-specific functional specification documents, effectively guiding the adherence to defined rules.
In leveraging our data migration accelerator product, Pulse, we tailored its configuration to address client-specific requirements on an object-by-object basis. Pulse's adaptability empowered us to manage the client's needs seamlessly throughout the entire data migration process.
How did Pulse enhance this process:
- Object-Specific Solutions: Custom Pulse Interfaces were crafted for each object, facilitating the configuration of unique rules tailored to address variations in requirements, particularly in tasks like harmonisation.
- Harmonisation: Pulse enabled the client to ingest data from across their SAP system and either manually or automatically decide which values to migrate to the target.
- Data Transformation: Pulse incorporated client-provided mapping requirements directly, allowing the definition of default fields and even complex logic for data transformation.
- Validation Rules: Business-specific rules were seamlessly configured into Pulse, enhancing the Data Cleansing process and prevention of migration of erroneous data.
- Summary Reporting: Pulse Summaries provided comprehensive insights into all facets of the process, from data readiness to error breakdowns and to reconciliation at the end of the migration process.
Making a Difference
Through Kagool's rigorous solution, which seamlessly integrates Pulse mappings, validations, and SAP connections, the client witnessed compelling evidence of efficient data checks and targeted cleansing from Source to Target.
By establishing attainable targets and defining clear milestones for System Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, and Production stages, we achieved an impressive 99.9% success rate for six-figure records. This accomplishment significantly minimised downstream manual interventions and elevated the quality of production data from the Source, ensuring readiness for the client's go-live activities in the Target environment.
Pulse's integrated reconciliation tools played a pivotal role, empowering process owners on the client side to verify data accuracy thoroughly. This ensured a clear and comprehensive understanding of the ETL process, providing confidence in the data per the required specifications.
Our strategic utilisation of Pulse, coupled with meticulous planning and execution, led to a seamless Data Migration process for our client. The integration of Pulse's advanced features, including tailored mappings, validations, harmonisation and reconciliation tools, ensured an efficient and accurate data transition from Source to Target.
