The client manufactures speciality medical devices that are vital to hospital, emergency, home and care environments. Their products are critical to the operating of intensive care, surgery, and chronic illness management.
They are a leading infusion therapy company with estimated revenues of approximately $2.5 billion.
The client aspired towards making more effective and efficient business decisions backed by data, to become more dynamic and adaptable in an unpredictable world. They aimed to be able to use various datasets from disparate sources all together to gain actionable business insights.
Before the transformation programme, the client was using 18 Business Intelligence solutions on 5 different analytics platforms, and 90% of this was delivered via Excel.
This mix of reporting methods limited the efficiency with which business insights could be gained. 70% of the reports were only produced once a month.
There was also potential for much more control and efficiency to be put into reporting processes to ensure people focused on the right data. Initially, only 8% of KPIs were automated, and 30 KPIs had no access control.
The majority of business systems run on Oracle, both on premises and in the cloud.
Kagool carried out a 5-week assessment of the client's existing enterprise landscape, requirements and approach, and subsequently recommended a organisation-wide unified data strategy. Kagool was chosen above competitors to deliver this, and the solution was delivered in less than 12 months, an impressive timescale for a programme of this scale.
A Microsoft Azure Modern Data Platform was built from ground up. We used Kagool’s own product, Velocity, which was built in conjunction with Microsoft, to integrate 8 on-premise and SaaS sources with Azure.
A Data Lakehouse was built using Velocity off-the-shelf, with 42 Common Data Models (CDMs) across supply chain, service repair, and distribution & Customer 360.

As well as building these, Kagool empowered the client with a completely self-service solution by delivering trainings on Power BI and Databricks to the business, allowing end users to easily create their own reports within minutes.
This project is now live, with people in the business using it every day to gain actionable insights and drive informed business decisions.
The Modern Data Platform is easily scalable and adaptable for further innovations including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT) integrations, apps, and more.
